David Carmouche, MD
Dr. Carmouche is Medical Director of the Center for Cardiovascular Disease Prevention. He attended medical school at LSU-New Orleans and did an internal medicine internship and residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He then served as Chief Resident and Instructor in Medicine. Dr. Carmouche is one of the very first physicians in the United States to become a Diplomate of the American Board of Clinical Lipidology. He is also certified as a Specialist in Clinical Hypertension by the American Society of Hypertension. He is an active member of multiple professional societies including the American College of Physicians, American Society of Hypertension, National Lipid Association, Southeastern Lipid Association, and is a professional member of the American Heart Association and its Councils on Hypertension Research as well as Epidemiology and Prevention. He is a member of the American Heart Association’s Interdisciplinary Working Group for Quality of Care and Outcomes Research. He is an investigator in several ongoing clinical trials.
Peggy-Jo Jones, RN, MSN, NP-C
Ms. Jones is a nurse practitioner with several years of experience in both the inpatient and outpatient setting. She has worked in cardiology exclusively during the last several years and enjoys direct patient contact and education. After receiving her Associate Degree from Our Lady of the Lake nursing school in Baton Rouge and her Bachelor's Degree in nursing from Loyola University New Orleans, Ms. Jones completed her Masters of Science Degree from Loyola University New Orleans. She is board certified through the American academy of Nurse Practitioners and is a member of the Louisiana Association of Nurse Practitioners, the American Nurses Association, Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society and the Preventive Cardiovascular Nurse Association.
Theresa Prendergast, RD, LDN, CDE
Ms. Prendergast received her BS in Dietetics through LSU and completed her internship at Indiana University Medical Center. She joined the Baton Rouge Clinic in 1997. She is a certified diabetes educator and a member of the American Association of Diabetes Educators and the American Dietetic Association. Ms. Prendergast has significant experience in nutritional management of obesity, hypertension, and cholesterol disorders.
